UFC 82 Results: Pride of a Champion

Anderson Silva beats Dan Henderson

Silva had some trouble in the first round, due to facing a tough opponent for the first time. After that round he dominated in round two for the win. The fight was great, but at going three rounds would have been even better. His post fight interview mentions dropping a weight class to challenge GSP? That would be awesome.

I don’t think Dan can drop another weight class for his next title shot. But he seemed to hold his own enough for a rematch. Maybe fight Rich Franklin next.

.

Heath Herring beats Cheick Kongo

Kongo had some troubles with this one. Overall things would be cleaner in the rankings if Kongo won, but it wasn’t meant to be. The fight was great considering they are heavyweights. Way better than a couple years ago with to big tired guys swinging at each other and hugging. These two guys were in shape, had some ground moves, great strikers, awesome fight to watch.

.

Alessio Sakara loses to Chris Leben

Chris Leben wins every fight when it sticks to straight fist pounding. It’s like he walks right into your punches just to deliver his own harder ones. Weird. This was probably the runner-up fight of the night. Leben knocks out Sakara.

.

Yushin Okami beats Evan Tanner

It’s great for Tanner to return to try to finally make some money, but Yushin whooped him. Tanner should have tried for the lighter weight class. This one is not worth entering money-wise. At least in the lower weight class he could beat Matt Serra.

.

Overall above average showing, but not awesome. I probably like the shows better where my predictions are all wrong. I got 3/4 right this time, and I was really hoping for Kongo to win.
