UFC 82 Predictions: Pride of a Champion
Overall the fight card is good enough that some of the may-not-be-broadcast fights have pretty big names. That’s pretty unusual for the UFC. This whole year must be looking pretty good if they can do that to Josh Koscheck and Diego Sanchez.
.
Anderson Silva Vs. Dan Henderson
Silva looks pretty much unstoppable. And not many ex-pride fighters have done much in the UFC yet… so I think Dan is toast for this fight. I might hope for Dan a little, just so they can have a rematch fight later in the year. Anderson has no one else left to beat up in this weight class.
.
Heath Herring Vs. Cheick Kongo
In his last fight Cheick was so good I had to start cheering for him. Crocop has now gone on to join a Japan MMA? Tokyo action!
From way back Heath had alot of build-up coming into the UFC and put on a sad show. Hopefully all his non pay-per-view fights since then have made him ready for this one. They heavy weight class is tougher now than a couple years ago, so right now I don’t see Heath taking over.
.
Alessio Sakara Vs. Chris Leben
Alessio is a good fighter, but I always cheer for Leben. Maybe when Chris wins this one he’ll have enough UFC history behind him they can give him a title shot. Or at least get to fight Dan Henderson after Silva wins. It’s gotta be hard on Chris being in Silva’s highlight reel every single time…
.
Yushin Okami Vs. Evan Tanner
I am not old school enough to be cheering for Evan Tanner. Yushin is good fighter, but stuck in a really tough division. If it was possible he should drop down to chase Mike Swick and GSP in the 170 division. Maybe all the 185 guys should drop to 170 lbs once Silva beats Henderson.
.
I am amazed how many of the ‘may not be broadcast’ fights have big names. These guys must be going through a rough patch. My guess is that win or lose if Arlovski’s fight is boring he will be toast.
In the may-not-be-broadcast fighters I cheer for: Andrei Arlovski , Josh Koscheck , Diego Sanchez, Jorge Gurgel. Since they are all right on the cut-line they all need to win.
