The fight card looked good and the show turned out great. Only the Australian Palelei turned out to be another heavy-wieght let down.

Matt Hughes loses to Georges St-Pierre

Georges crushed Matt Hughes almost too much. Not likely to be another match between these two ever again. The only thing to stop Matt from retiring could be the slim chance Matt Serra fight. This was a great fight to watch though. 

Chuck Liddell wins over Wanderlei Silva

Another great fight. Probably Dana White’s favorite fight of the year. As soon as one of these guys wins the belt the re-match will happen for a title shot fight. Wanderlei took a beating, but would never stop. Near the end it looked like Chuck did a couple take-downs to ensure he had more judging points to win the match. Not a great part of the sport, but I agree that Chuck should do that to make sure he gets the win. He might still have beat Keith Jardine with a few take-downs purely to win points and no intention to ground fight.

Rich Clementi beats Melvin Guillard

Best post fight trash talk of the year by Rich Clementi. I was cheering for Melvin, but he got worked. Melvin looked to have him beat for the whole first round before finally submitting him. Another great fight to watch.

Overall maybe it was OK for the UFC 78 fight card to be crappy so the UFC 79 fight card could be awesome. Time for Chuck to win a few fights. He rocks.
