The Road by Cormac McCarthy

Category: Fiction

Rating: 3.5/5

Back Cover Snippet: ‘A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind. …’

My Comments:  The Road reminds me a bit of the 2002 Mel Gibson movie Signs. That movie focused on a small family farm story that happens beside a global alien visit to earth. This book covers  a small father-son story beside whatever previously happened to wipe out the planet. So it makes for a fun read, but I’d still like to know more of the other larger adventure story.

On a small side note, this book would have had a much more gruesome effect on me if I didn’t just recently finish reading the Larry Niven Escape From Hell book. The Road was grindingly depressing throughout, but the small chapter chunks kept you reading for just one more…
