Comments:

I liked the historical coverage of the language covered in this book. If I knew a decent amount of Japanese then I am sure I would have learned far more…,but I still like what I was able to pick-up. (Right now I am studying the smart.fm website.) This book does not cover much syntax or grammar, so I will be looking for those other books next. Plus maybe a more current version of a book similar to this in case it’s overly out-dated. Overall a good place to start for beginner Japanese students like me.
