The Fiefdom Syndrome

The turf battles that undermine careers and companies – and how ot overcome them.

Author: Robert J. Herbold – former COO of Microsoft

Rating: 5/5

Inside Jacket Snippet: ‘… Bob Herbold exposes why fiefdoms occur and the myriad ways they can compromise a company’s effectiveness – as well as shows what managers, companies, and individuals need to do to break up fiefdoms and eliminate turf wars. …’

Comments: The book is well written, concise, and very focused on corporate fiefdoms. So it a worthwhile read, but by the end I was getting worn down by so much in-depth coverage  on the corporate fiefdom syndrome. Phew. So if you are having fiefdom issues… this is the perfect book to assist your company through it.

The author name drops a few other book s I will add to my future reading list; Louis Gerstner’s ‘Who says elephants can’t dance’ and Andrew Grove’s ‘Only the Paranoid Survive’.
