Starquake

A podcast by Terence McKenna loosely named ‘Linear Societies and Nonlinear Drugs’ briefly notes Starquakes. The natural phenomenon that occurs when the crust of a neutron star undergoes natural adjustment. This happened in 2004, temporarily knocking out every x-ray satellite in space.

This should be another feature of a space-weather-widget letting us know when we are about to be hit by gamma rays. Would that cause a power blip on the grid and reset all the clocks in my house? A starquake 50,000 light years away?

Gamma rays hitting everyone on the planet leading to mass extinction is another item for the list of things not to dwell on. Crazy.
