Brock Lesnar submits Shane Carwin

A great fight, but… I can understand why and how Shane Carwin was gassed after the first round, but it is still a let-down. A top tier fighter should always expect the championship fight to somehow go two full rounds out of the possible five and pace himself. Brock was OK, but he was ready to lose. Next Shane Carwin will get one re-match title shot against Brock in a couple years and then possibly have to wait for someone else to beat him.

Yoshihiro Akiyama loses to Chris Leben

Great fight. I wasn’t cheering for either guy before the fight, but now I am cheering for both in their next matches. Classic Fred Flinstone cartoon slugfest style fight.

Krzysztof Soszynski loses to Stephan Bonnar

Another great basic slugfest style fight. Stephan Bonnar put on a great fight, but he still has to be on the edge of elimination. I don’t know how one great Forrest Griffin fight can keep you in the UFC for so long.

Seth Petruzelli loses to Ricardo Romero

I always seem to miss the Spike tv fights. Too many commercials. Sad to wiki read that Seth lost.

Overall UFC 116 was a good show. I just really wanted Shane Carwin to win, if only to over-hype the next Brock Lesnar comeback fight.
