Results on UFC 108

UFC 108 didn’t have massive star power backing the show, but it did have some good fights. I couldn’t convince any casual fans or new people to watch the show without Brock Lesnar being in it.

Rashad Evans vs Thiago Silva

I liked this main event. Rashad outpointed him and looked entertaining in how he did it for the first two rounds. Thiago did some frustrated antics in the third round, but he was mainly choked he got beat by Rashad playing the rules part of UFC fighting perfectly. Wrestlers are allowed to do take-downs over and over again with no follow up damage  to get points and win the judges scoring. To have a chance Thiago has to train to stop wrestler take-downs. It is somewhat lame he is forced to… but that’s how it is in the UFC.

Dustin Hazelett vs Paul Daley

I was back and forth on who to cheer for; great submission vs knock-out. Paul Daley won by knock-out and it was another great fight.

Junior Dos Santos vs Gilbert Yvel

As I guessed Gilbert Yvel didn’t look ready for UFC craziness. He should come back more prepared for his next fight. Not training-wise better, but better prepared for the lights and circus environment around every fight.

Other fights were also good and with the main event being entertaining I rate UFC 108 as a great show. I like shows without title fights now since I get to see more matches. Maybe title fights should be reduced to four rounds. The fifth round is usually a waste of 5 minutes anyways.
