I should have avoided the promo-countdown show for UFC 118. The main events were fine, but a bit of a let-down to watch right after the over-hype pre-show.

Frankie Edgar beats B.J. Penn

Frankie did fine, BJ seemed unable to get any attack groove on. Large parts of the fight looked just  like the first fight. BJ maybe should have waited before he re-match and let some other guys highlight a Frankie weakness. Frankie never seems to slow down from his crazy super fast bounce-punch attack.

Randy Couture beats James Toney

A bit sad Tony didn’t throw any standing punches. It is great that Randy won, but I hope Tony sticks around for a couple more matches. Let him take on some rookie heavy-weights.

Kenny Florian loses to Gray Maynard

Gray Maynard won with the classic wrestler style. It was a good fight, but a Kenny first round submission win would be more entertaining.

Overall I was hoping one of those fights would have had a bigger finish. They were all fine, just not highlight-reel awesome. Maybe too many of the things expected to happen did go that way.
