Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
Rating: 4/5, an o.k. finish to the series, not an amazing finish.
Writing Style: Entertaining as always, but too dark
Summary: The final book in the Harry Potter series.
Comments: Spoiler Alert.
The first book is happy and cheerful, the final book is sad and gloomy. The set items liked in the first few books were completely gone from the finish; no Hogwarts classes, no nifty new magic spells, no final exams tension. Plus it was hinted earlier that after the final year each student would become a certain type of wizard; an auror, a dragon trainer, etc… but none of our favorite characters make this choice. When we skipped ahead nineteen years I was really hoping Harry would be the headmaster. Or at least the defence against the dark arts teacher. That would have been much better closure.
Oh well. The author spent way too many chapters on the main characters hiding in a tent with nothing happening. If only they could have gone to Hogwarts five chapters sooner. Then the author could have been able to expand the exciting ending out five chapters.
Overall I would have liked the title to be “Harry Potter - Graduation Year” and the book to have a more upbeat feel and ending. But still a good read as is.
