- The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age -

Author: Viktor Mayer-Schronberger

Rating: 5/5

Inside Jacket Snippet: ‘… describes the dangers of everlasting digital memory … an eye-opening book that will help us remember how to forget in the digital age. …’

Comments: Good book, relevant topic, and bonus points for using an unusual, but appropriate word, panopticon. I support expiry dates on all data, but I don’t see it happening. Today, business and the economy overly benefit from total recall so it will be hard to counter that. Another option is that maybe in ten years the data gathering will go even more extreme on ten billion people and any individual person will be hidden in the massive data flow. Unless you are a celebrity you data might never reach first page search results. Overall, Delete is a good book to read and I will look for more by Viktor Mayer-Schronberger.
