Breaking Open the Head by Daniel Pinchbeck

Full Title: Breaking Open the Head - A Psychedelic Journey into the Heart of Contemporary Shamanism - by Daniel Pinchbeck

Rating: 4/5

Writing Style: Felt a bit like blog reading. His personal ideas/perspective as he tries out various psychedelics and studies up on the history and current state of psychedelics in the US. The writing style improved the more the author explored.

Summary: Daniel’s adventures start with iboga in Africa, mushrooms in Huautla, then covers off LSD, DMT, DPT, Datura, salvia divinorum, mescaline, yage/ayahuasca, …  That is alot of stuff to cover in one book.

I like the idea that each plant is a representative emissary, a key, or gateway to their realm. Maybe tuning your conscious awareness to their radio-like frequency of reality spectrum. The book notes to especially avoid the realities Datura and DPT.

It would be nice if the follow up book covered his journey deeper into a single psychedelic. What-ever he prefferred, for less conceptual jumping around. Maybe he could get to know a couple alternate reality entities.
